Portable Appliance Testing or PAT, is a process by which electrical appliances are checked to establish whether they are safe.
People who work with electrical appliances, must adhere to Health and Safety regulations which state that the appliance must be safe.
Equipment will require testing at regular intervals to ensure continual safety however the interval between tests varies depending on the type of appliance and the environment it is used in.
The evidence of a PAT Test is clearly visible to employers and employees in the form of 'Passed' , 'Tested For Electrical Safety' and 'DO NOT USE after' labels.
What PAT Testing Involves
All portable appliances. External Visual inspection to assess any damage to cables, plugs and appliance casing.
Internal Visual inspection of plug to ensure that it is wired correctly, that the cable is in safe condition and correctly secured.
Inspection of fuse to ensure it is of the correct rating.
Electrical testing (using the latest testing equipment) for earth bonding, insulation and polarity.
Each appliance is individually labelled indicating test result, date tested,re test date, appliance recognition number and technician id.
We will supply a register of appliance details including the above plus location of appliances, test results and any repairs carried out.
A certificate of compliance will be issued to display at all premises where testing has been carried out.
